2017 Summer School Programs

April 19 marked the official groundbreaking for renovations and new construction at our Superior High School! It was a typical spring day in Superior--with a cold Lake Superior wind--but that didn't dampen the spirits of anyone in attendance!

In addressing the crowd, Superintendent Janna Stevens stated, "Superior High School was built in the 1960's when the expectations for learning were vastly different than they are today. We now live in a time where accountability for learning is at its highest. We live in an age where technology is simply a part of the everyday work...for students and staff. Our staff and students need adequate space as well as appropriate design in all of our classrooms to meet the various needs and expectations of all learners. We live in a time where security must be in place. Our kids and staff deserve the very best the district and community can provide ... they are our future, let's take good care of them!"

Superintendent Stevens praised the many people who have played a role in getting the district to this historic moment. She also praised the Superior Community for their dedication to the children and staff in the School District of Superior.

The 2017 Civic Oration Level 2 contest was held at Superior High School on Thursday, April 13th. Congratulations to the top three participants who will advance to the Level 3 contest on May 9th in Elroy, WI. This year's Salute to Service, an event honoring those who have retired over the past year or who plan to retire at the end of the current year, will be held on May 22, 2017. Hors d'oeuvres will be served at 4:30 p.m. and the program will begin at 5:00 p.m. The event will be held at Superior Middle School.
Students, staff and community came together on April 12 to celebrate the official groundbreaking of our new Cooper Elementary School. In addressing the crowd, Superintendent Janna Stevens stated that she is so proud of the Superior community for their dedication to the children and staff in our school district. The support our district has received to maintain facilities over the last several decades shows the trust our district has been given by the citizens of Superior. That trust has been earned through proactive long and short term planning, fiscal responsibility, and the commitment of School Board members and administration to the district and community.

Cooper was built in the 1960s when the concept of open classrooms, segregated special needs learners and no-need for security were at its highest. Our staff and students need adequate space as well as appropriate design in all classrooms to meet the various needs of all learners. Our staff and students need to have a facility which provides the necessary security to feel safe so learning can thrive.

Our students and staff deserve the very best the district and community can provide. They are our future. Lets take good care of them!

Congratulations, Cooper community. We look forward to watching you grow!

Construction and Metals Students at Superior High School built two ice houses as a project. The students still have one for sale and they are offering it up to you at the cost of building materials ($3,000.00).

Both the trailer and ice house were custom built from new materials. The six interior led lights are set up to run off 12 V system. Included with the purchase are four hole covers. The house is fully insulated. The trailer has an extra long tongue so it can stay hitched to your vehicle and still kneel down to fish.

For more details or to see it in person contact Mr. James Bianchi at Superior High School, 715-394-8720.
