Superior Director Named Instructional Leader of the Year
School District of Superior Celebrates Another Major Educational Award In 2023
SUPERIOR, WI - Educators in the School District of Superior continue positively impacting the students and
the Spartan community. Earlier this year, Jamie Wilson, Director of Food Service, was named Director of the
Year by the School Nutrition Association of Wisconsin. Lori Danz, Superior High School Biology
Teacher/School Forest Coordinator, received the prestigious Wisconsin Teacher of the Year award from the
Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. Superior earns another honor as Crystal Hintzman, Director of
Curriculum & Instruction, was minted Instructional Leader of the Year by the Wisconsin Association of
Supervision and Curriculum Development (WASCD).
Hintzman has spent nearly 30 years with the School District of Superior in a wide variety of roles. For the
last decade, she has created a culture of learning and professional growth as the foundation for student
social-emotional and academic success in the District. Hintzman continuously learns and applies her
knowledge to benefit the entire Superior staff.
She is intentionally present in all the schools every week, working closely with principals to build their
capacity for instructional leadership. Through this collaborative leadership style, Hintzman continues to
amaze and inspire those who work with her to be even better for the students and staff they work with
daily.

terrific teacher, role model, and asset to this district. Crystal is proud to be a lifelong Spartan and always
does what is best for our students. This award is just another way of showcasing how we provide a great
quality of education. I’m so proud of her and can’t wait to see what she has in store for years to come.”
Hintzman formally received her award at the WASCD Annual Fall Conference on October 19, 2023.
Wisconsin ASCD is the Wisconsin affiliate of the national educational organization Association of Supervision
and Curriculum Development (ASCD). Wisconsin ASCD is a non-partisan and non-profit organization that
serves to advocate for high quality education and provides professional development opportunities across
the state of Wisconsin.
